WHAT TO EXPECT
Each seminar will have the same core content, with the addition of a unique local segment curated by the city's seminar team. Included are our most popular sessions as well as
new additions to advance Australia's foremost tea culture event.
Each seminar will consist of the following:
-
Ceramic Cup Presentation
-
Welcome by Tea
-
International Presentation with Live Q&A
-
Unique Local Segment
-
Volunteer Tea Brewers' Emporium
What is the Ceramic Cup Presentation?
Every year since 2018, AUSTCS has run a Ceramic Cup
Competition in conjunction with the Australian Ceramics
Association. After judging entries, we commission the winning
ceramicist to make bespoke cups for our event. This session
includes the unboxing of your very own handmade teacup and
a presentation by the winning potter, who will give you the
background to your cup, the design process, its significance,
and its production.
What is Welcome by Tea?
Welcome by Tea is a ceremony of sorts, extending hospitality
to members in the room. Each table will be hosted by a Volunteer
Tea Brewer who will serve their favourite teas to members at their
table. It’s a very personal interaction between the brewer and
their guests, sharing information on the brew, its significance to
the brewer and any other bits of information they wish to share.
All this while collectively enjoying each beautiful infusion.
What is the International Presentation?
New to the 2023 seminar is an opportunity to virtually visit tea estates
and regions to immerse in global tea cultures and production
through a beautiful video presentation. This year we will travel to
the home of tea, China. After the journey you will have the
opportunity to ask questions via a live link to our China
representative from the CCCFNA.
What is the Unique Local Segment?
Each city's seminar team has sought to provide a unique local
segment to address their community's interests, therefore the
afternoon segments in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne will be
different from one another.
Refer to each city’s seminar for details.
What is the Volunteer Tea Brewers' Emporium?
Our Volunteer Tea Brewers are a crucial part of Welcome by Tea;
this year we say 'thank you' by hosting a brief market-style
emporium for them. Once the seminar closes you can make your
way over to a dedicated retail area where you can chat and
purchase the teas you have enjoyed during the day and other
related items such as accessories.
